A new release diesel powered 101.6mm (4-inch) pump that delivers both high pressure and high flow, has been released by Australian Pump Industries. Known as the Super Pump, identified as model number QPT405SLTD, the pump uses twin impeller technology to deliver pressures in excess of 125psi and flows of up to 46,200-litres/ hour.
Apart from that astonishing performance capability, the pump offers user friendly features that include the ability to self-prime from depths of 7m (23ft). That’s a huge advantage because the user doesn’t have to prime the entire suction line in order to get liquid into the pump.
Self-priming capabilities are all part of Aussie’s “Quick Prime” design that enables the pump to prime itself once the pump body is filled with water.
Other unique features are similar to those offered by Aussie’s famous Fire Chief pump and include a compact design and a 3-way outlet. That outlet offers the operator a choice of using either one 101.6mm (4-inch) delivery line, or two 76mm (3-inch) lines.
The pump body itself is manufactured from non-corrosive high-grade aluminium. The twin impellers are also made from heavy duty alloy castings operating within heavy duty volute casings.
Mechanical seals are twin silicon carbide faced for hard wear even in abrasive liquid applications.
The pump shaft is from high grade S45C steel designed for long life, whilst all o’rings are NBR (Nitrile Buna Rubber).
The big pump is powered by a Kohler air cooled diesel engine developing 12kW (16hp) at 3600rpm.
“We’ve designed this machine like a tank”, said Aussie Pumps Chief Engineer, John Hales. “We’ve worked with the Kohler team to apply their 425-2 engine and backed it up with a big 60-litre fuel tank mounted in the heavy-duty steel base.”
The skid mount is a “sled” design and is fitted as standard with an integrated lifting bar that enables it to be easily moved around farm or site. Although the pump packs a wallop, it weighs in at only 245 or 325kg when fully packed for shipping.
The Aussie 101.6mm (4-inch) pump will prime in 20 seconds from low suction heads and takes up to 2 minutes to prime from 5 or 6 metres.
Performance is extraordinary, with the ability to shift flows of up to 450lpm at a 50m head, or around 300lpm at 60m head.
“We expect to see a lot of interest from fire-fighting authorities in this pump as well”, said Hales. “It combines high performance and real user-friendly features that will make it a winner for Australian users.”
