Rural Bachelor aims to find the best of the best rural blokes from New Zealand and Australia by highlighting their passion for and ability in the rural sector.

The winner will get to hold aloft the coveted Golden Gumboot and take home $20,000 of prizes from various sponsors.

This year’s competition kicks off with a road trip on June 13-14 with the men travelling from Auckland to Fieldays at Mystery Creek, with activities along the way to give them a taste of what to expect over the four-day event.

Once at Fieldays, the bachelors will be pushed to their limits.

They will take part in tractor driving, a blind date, fencing and cooking, among other pursuits.

Last year’s winner, Toby How, who also won the People’s Choice Award, said he took the whole experience relatively casually, but in the end he found the event was right up his alley. ”

“I’m still living up to the bachelor title; I’ve met some nice girls but as yet, still not the one!” Mr How said.
