AI and digital tools designed to unlock full farm potential

Syngenta is expanding coverage of its Cropwise AI solution and other cutting-edge tools to put more technology in the hands of all farm operations

Syngenta has released technology to enable farmers running small to medium operations to identify any plants or discuss any concerns while working on a laptop in the paddock

A study into farm technology has clearly shown that an adoption gap exists between small and large farm operations, and this needs to be addressed to reduce the possible farm income loss gap.

According to a report released from the study, there is an urgent need for small to medium farm operations to catch up and match the outlay being made by large-scale operations in AI technology, to ensure continued income viability.

As a result, Syngenta is pioneering digital and AI systems to serve as an enabler, to make digital solutions and AI more affordable to all farmers.

Syngenta is opening its Cropwise digital platform to third-party developers to co-innovate and tackle agriculture’s technology divide.

The Syngenta Group is backing AI systems access, and according to CEO Jeff Rowe, “Farmers are facing pressures that demand urgent action and real solutions.

“We have a critical window of opportunity to reverse troubling trends by ensuring every farmer, regardless of farm size or technical background, can access the transformative power of AI and digital tools.”

Syngenta is releasing technology that will allow a farmer standing in a paddock to relay information using his smartphone to receive information and identify when to harvest

“When we combine AI and digital tools with deep agricultural expertise, we unlock genuine potential to revolutionize farming.

“But technology alone isn’t enough. Policymakers and businesses must work together to demonstrate how AI can deliver tangible results, simplify farming operations and dispel misconceptions that farmers must be tech experts to use and benefit from these tools.

“We must also work together to build strong foundations of trust – through peer validation, transparency about data usage and outcomes farmers can see and measure in their own fields,” Syngenta CEO Jeff Rowe concluded.

In addressing the growing digital divide highlighted in the report. Larger farms rapidly adopting advanced AI and digital tools, while smaller and older farmers risk being left behind.

There is an urgent need for access to agricultural technology, and for it to be made less expensive and more widely available to all farming segments.

Syngenta is intending to make its own powerful AI-driven solution, the Cropwise platform, more readily available for farmers at all operational levels.

Syngenta Cropwise Grower GenAI

The Syngenta Cropwise Grower GenAI Chatbot is already functional and empowering over 2 million farmers across India, delivering 24/7 multilingual agronomy support remotely.

Smallholders and large operators alike can simply speak or text, or take a picture of an ailing plant, to receive instant analysis, disease diagnosis, and product recommendations with 95% accuracy.

This system leverages advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and voice recognition to handle local dialects, offering localised advice that previously required costly paddock visits.

The system also offers a next-generation regional predictive alert system that combines real-time pest and disease scouting data with advanced risk modelling and geospatial AI to forecast outbreak likelihood and geographic spread.

This enables farmers to take proactive, preventative action before issues reach their paddocks rather than reacting after problems emerge. These innovations are designed with the aim of simplifying farming operations and making advanced agricultural insights accessible to all farmers.

Following the World Economic Forum in early 2026, Syngenta will advise farm operations on how the company intends to support wider access to AI farming technology through Cropwise.
