The chaser bin market leader goes an extra step to add more features as standard for efficient delivery during the next harvest
Already a popular choice amongst leading growers Davimac has added extra dimensions to its 25 to 35-tonne capacity models for the upcoming season.
These updates will ensure the local manufacturer remains as market leaders but from a grower perspective an order needs to be placed now to get your delivery secured
Davimac chaser bins now available in 25 to 35-tonne capacities with single or dual-axle undercarriages have a distinct advantage due to their low-profile height.
This design facilitates easy loading from headers and reduces the risk of auger collision. It also lowers the centre of gravity to gain a sturdier ride and simplifies road transport requirements.
The 2024 model is available to order now for delivery well in time for winter Harvest 2024-25 and carries a notable feature.
This model includes a new slanted design for the first time with the left-hand side elevated 200mm above the right. Davimac has aptly dubbed this design addition ‘Grain Guard’.
“Our new Grain Guard design prevents any grain loss from the latest release high-capacity headers while still maintaining the low-load height that growers appreciate,” explains Joshua Whalan from Davimac Group.
“This was one of our most requested additions, alongside the new rubber-auger chute for more accurate grain output, so we have incorporated grower feedback into the design process when planning our 2024 release bin.”
Additional standard functions also added to these 2024 models include a grain sampling valve for easy ‘on-the-go’ quality monitoring, while a bigger gearbox increases reliability and efficiency.
There is also a simplified single cleanout lever that can control all six cleanout doors simultaneously to ensure easy full-length cleaning, and easier internal access.
There is also a custom Davimac-designed changeable-ball swivel hitch that can be adapted to better fit smaller tractor pin sizes with the advantage of reduced shunting while towing.
In addition, Davimac has also added to its range of available options and accessories that can be specified for all 2024 models.
These include a wireless transmitter for the Libra Cart Harvest Management Software to augment their scales, and there is a camera kit complete with three cameras plugged into an in-cab screen.
Many growers may also want to specify the flotation tyres option to minimise the impact of the harvest operation on soil compaction.
Leading local design
With a manufacturing base in Central West NSW, and able to supply models across the country, Davimac is a leading OEM known for its design philosophy of over-engineering equipment to attain maximum reliability and durability.
The 2024 chaser bin models release continues the Davimac tradition of advanced harvest productivity and efficiency.
These models bring extra functions and options to a grain cart already packed with a host of innovations built up from over 40 years of experience, providing leading growers with a product line that works best in the local market.
“Local growers know the importance of dependable, sturdy equipment to get the job done quickly and effectively, especially during harvest,” adds Joshua Whalan from Davimac Group.
“One of the unique benefits of our bins, and something we are immensely proud of, is the high-quality construction.
“We manufacture all models right here in regional NSW, so they are built to withstand the tough and demanding conditions that local growers endure.”
Davimac bins are easily recognised for their distinctive curved sides, a design factor that is more resistant to buckling than conventional straight sides.
They also include as standard adjustable CTF wheel centres, and are fitted with a large 510mm (20-inch) auger with 12 tonnes per minute unload capacity,
as well as a cushioned hitch A-frame to absorb bumps when travelling over uneven terrain.
“Our chaser bins are designed to last for years,” adds Joshua. “For example, the undercarriage on our dual-axle models is rated over double the bin’s wheat-carrying capacity, and we are the only local manufacturer we know of who builds with 12-stud hub axles for the wheels.”
Davimac has chosen a simple, robust, and reliable walking beam undercarriage design that minimises compaction issues while riding with the contours of the terrain. This is what has ensured long-lasting performance season after season for these models.
“The cheaply made truck suspension and steering axle designs seen in some of our competitors are unreliable and introduce more points of potential failure, not to mention the problems of added maintenance complexity,” explains Joshua.
“Our customers know that reliability is crucial during the hectic, time-pressured harvest season. Our chaser bin brings with it fewer worries, allowing growers to focus on what matters most, maximising their grain yield.”
Build efficiency
Further demonstrating the Davimac commitment to low maintenance, their vertical augers have some of the heaviest flights in the industry. They are made of 10 mm steel instead of thinner steel sometimes found in other brands.
This serves to increase their overall strength and durability, preventing them from becoming unbalanced due to bowing and in turn avoiding unnecessary costly refurbishment or repairs.
Any downtime during harvest is costly both in productivity and overall crop risk. Combine harvesters can spend up to 35% of harvest time unloading or travelling between mother bins, whilst post-maturity yield loss can reach approximately 0.5% per day (SEPWA).
Working with a Davimac chaser bin can significantly boost paddock efficiency and dramatically reduce the time it takes to complete a harvest.
These bins reclaim unloading time and ensure the combine harvester operates at full capacity.
Josh was also quick to point out the versatility a chaser bin brings to a cropping operation. “Many farmers don’t realise that our bins can be used for harvesting crops other than wheat”, he explains further.
“Our chaser bins can be used to carry corn, rice, beans, peas, and even fertiliser. With our optional auger hopper chute, animal feed can be spread around the paddock, so the bin can also be used year-round and not just at harvest time, maximising the return on investment.”
Davimac has an extensive nationwide dealer network that offers farmers local servicing and after-sales support. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, Davimac ensures its dealers are dedicated to supporting owners every step of the way.
Extending its customer care well beyond initial purchase, Davimac offers “harvest ready” service programs in partnership with its dealership network to prepare the chaser bin to operate at peak performance during critical harvest time.
