Fendt has launched a seventh generation of the 700 Series Vario tractor in one of the most exciting re-designs for 2022

Since their launch in 1998, the Fendt 700 Vario has won numerous awards and been Fendt’s best-selling tractor range of all time.
Farmers all over the world have come to depend on these tractors and the proven reliability that comes with the Fendt brand.
The versatility of the Fendt 700 Series tractor has not gone unnoticed on Australia and New Zealand farms where the badge has added to its client base year-on-year.
Many farmers describe Fendt as the “Rolls Royce” of tractors by both inspiring and catering to every aspect an operator wants to get out of a current tractor model.
Fendt engineers have somewhat of a reputation to upheld and don’t disappoint with this seventh generation offering improved technical innovations such as VarioDrive and an innovative cooling concept, all leading to the most responsive manoeuvrability in this category.
There are five models in this seventh generation abirritation, the Fendt 720 Vario, 722 Vario, 724 Vario, 726 Vario and Fendt 728 Vario.
Armed with an AGCO Power 6-cylinder, 7.5 litre engine with 4-valve technology the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series offers engine power from 149 to 208kW (203 to 283hp), with Fendt iD technology offering a low speed range with 700rpm at idling and 1700rpm at rated speed.

In addition, there is the Fendt Dynamic Performance (DP) extra power boost that releases an extra 15kW (20hp) when it’s needed. This takes the 728 Vario top model up to a maximum of 223kW (303hp).
The extra power is also unique that it’s not limited to a driving speed or special application pick-up, but purely functions dynamically, even when PTO work is at a standstill.
There is a great deal of versatility that comes with Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series models, with a power spectrum up to 223kW (303hp) for quick action applications.
An economical 6-cylinder, 7.5 litre engine with 4-valve technology, along with the optional of fitting row crop tyres with a 1524mm (60-inch) width, FendtONE onboard with all of the operating elements in one central location or FendtONE offboard where the manager controls the operation
In addition, there is a current generation operating system for the Fendt Cargo front loader that further distinguishes Gen7 Series models as all-rounders for AU and NZ farmers.
And for the first time, Gen7 Series models are available with up to a 60kph top road speed.

High tractive power still economical to run
The low-speed Fendt iD application, familiar on the 900 and 100 series tractors is now offered on 700 Gen7 tractors.
This allows the engine, transmission, hydraulics and cooling system to operate on the “high torque – low engine speed” principle.
In this way, the Fendt 700 Vario achieves high torque even at low engine speeds, resulting in significate fuel savings and a rated engine speed of only 1,700 rpm.
In the main working range, the speed is a quiet 1,400 to 1,700 rpm.
Both the Fendt 726 and 728 Vario can reach a top speed of 60kph at just 1,450 rpm. While at 50kph the engine speed is 1,200 rpm, and at 40kph it is only 950 rpm.
The maximum torque of 1,450Nm on the top model Fendt 728 Vario is achieved at just 1,300 rpm and ensures high tractive power and acceleration strength with minimal specific fuel consumption.
Operators will appreciate Fendt 700 Gen7 tractors are developed as high performance tractors with flexibility and the careful use of resources, meeting the need for low emissions.
Exhaust gas after-treatment takes place via a diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC), diesel particulate filter (DPF) and with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) without the need for exhaust gas recirculation. In addition, maintenance-free hydraulic tappets are installed in the engine.

Coupled to the ECE R 120 rated engine is an all-new VarioDrive transmission taking its design from the higher powered 900 and 1000 Series tractors.
The VarioDrive transmission, a single range transmission with optimum power from just 20 metres/hour and up to 60kph.
Intelligently controlled all-wheel drive management is a key advantage of Fendt VarioDrive, as it eliminates the need for manual switching when changing between paddock and road operations.
It drives the front and rear axles as needed and distributes the power dynamically.
In the paddock, the full tractive force is available, and stresses are avoided when driving on roads or curves.
The so-called pull-in-turn effect draws the machine into the curve during turns. The result: a particularly small turning circle with full tractive power and less soil compaction.
The exclusive Concentric Air System (CAS) ventilation and cooling concept will be familiar to operators of the Fendt 1000 Vario and has been consistently designed for low engine speeds, compact construction and fuel efficiency.
It is driven by its own hydraulic motor and is thus decoupled from the engine speed. The system is controlled flexibly according to demand and operates quietly and efficiently.
The compact cooling package enables unique manoeuvrability and combines this with particular efficiency.
The innovative technology of the pushing high-performance fan presses cooler air into the cooling pack.
Therefore, the fan speed can be reduced and 40% less drive power is needed compared to conventional fan and cooling systems. This power is then available for traction in the paddock or on the road.
The diameter of only 560mm results in a slim and clear design of the bonnet. This enables the large steering angle of the wheels of 52-deg.

Powerful hydraulics
The hydraulic pump circuit offers up to 220-lit/min capacity while a modular design allows the use of standard or new efficient, leak-free flat facing hydraulic couplings with up to five connections at the rear.
With a further two at the front and up to three connections in the middle are all functions that distinguish the high-performance hydraulics of Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series tractors.
Engineers have added a unique draft control for the rear linkage that shifts the weight of the implement proportionally to the rear axle of the tractor, with the advantage of increasing traction and improving the work performance.
Ideal power-to-weight ratio
With a power-to-weight ratio of just 22.4kg per kW (30.5kg per hp) and compact external dimensions, the Fendt 728 Vario is particularly manoeuvrable and exerts as little pressure as possible on the ground.
Depending on the work application, the range can be flexibly ballasted at the front, as well as at the rear on the rear wheels. While a gross vehicle weight of up to 15 tonnes allows it to be used as a heavy towing tractor.
The fully integrated Fendt VarioGrip tyre pressure control system increases the contact area with the ground and boosts tractive power by up to 8%, while maintain optimum tyre pressure reduces slip and ground pressure.
When driving on the road, the air pressure is raised and thus the rolling resistance is reduced, resulting in increased fuel efficiency.
From the cab, the operator can easily control the tyre pressure via the dual-line tyre pressure control system.
Fendt VarioGrip is optionally available directly from the factory for both flanged and stub axles, for row-crop with dual tyres and also with wheel weights.
Wheel options for all applications
Numerous tyre options are available for the Fendt 700 Vario, for instance the Fendt 726 and 728 Vario models are equipped with large 650/85R38 tyres, with a 2,050mm diameter as standard.
While for medium-size farm operations, operators can choose tyres with the dimension 650/65R42, with a 1,950mm diameter for the rear tyres. The Fendt 720, 722 and 724 Vario models are equipped with this dimension as standard.
For the first time, the Fendt 700 Vario can be fitted with a 1524mm (60-inch) row-crop tyre for all models in the series. For row-crop use, both single and dual tyres are available from the factory.

While there is no better paddock performer than a Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series tractor simply move into transport mode for an optional top speed of 60kph at only 1,450rpm with an array of built-in safety measures not matched by any other badge in this class
Safe even with heavy transport
With an optional top speed of 60kph at only 1,450rpm, and the inclusion of a comprehensive chassis as well as numerous options for rear hitching makes the Fendt 700 Vario a true transport tractor.
Additional built-in safety includes a dual-circuit brake system, Fendt Reaction Steering, as well as a brake light and deceleration assistant and Fendt Stability Control (FSC).
FSC works to reduce side lean at speeds above 25kph and also minimises roll. This increases safety in curves and as a result offers the operator more handling assurance.
For the first time Fendt engineers have added the option of trailer brake assistant for the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series tractors. The trailer brake assistant ensures a more even tow and is especially noticeable in hilly terrain as it offers more stable handling.
A sensor measures the thrust torque of the trailer via the transmission. When driving downhill, if the tractor detects the trailer is pushing too hard, the trailer’s pneumatic brakes are activated. Trailer Brake Assist will be available from the end of 2023.
Controlled operation with FendtONE
In the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series, from the comfort of the cab the tractor and implements are operated simply and individually via the multifunction joystick and the optional 3L joystick through what is termed as FendtONE onboard.
The cabin of the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series is equipped with a 254mm (10-inch) digital dashboard and a 305mm (12-inch) terminal on the armrest as standard. While a further 305mm (12-inch) terminal in the headliner can be added as an option if the jobbing requires the addition.
Smart functions such as the Fendt Guide guidance system, the automatic Fendt Section Control (SC) or the use of Fendt Variable Rate Control (VRC) are displayed as required on the individually assignable tiles on the terminals.
In addition, there are further smart farming functions to consider such as Fendt Contour Assistant, Fendt Section Control (SC), Automated headland management Fendt TI Headland, Automatic turning with Fendt TI Turn Assistant, Connectivity with the Fendt Connect telemetry package.

Operator comfort thought to the last detail
The well proven Fendt VisioPlus cab has been optimised once again in terms of safety and comfort in the 700 Vario Gen7 Series.
For the first time, the cabin air filtration can be optionally converted ex works to category 4 protection according to the EU standard EN15695. The category 4 protection system protects the operator from dust, liquid crop protection agents and their vapours.
This means that the Fendt 700 Vario meets all the requirements for crop protection. In its basic setting, it meets all the standards of a category 2 protection cabin. The filter system will be available from the end of 2023.
Visibility is crucial for precise work, the continuous panoramic window with a viewing angle of 77deg. offers an optimum view of the front loader, especially when working at height.
While a side window wiper on the right side keeps the window clean even in all weather conditions.
There is the provision to fit two optional cameras for the front and rear to make manoeuvring easier, and allow a direct view of the implement. While a further two optional working lights in the bonnet provide the best possible lighting for working at night.
To cater for operators expected to undertake long shifts through the day and night, and in changing weather conditions, there is an improved air conditioning system.
Even under extreme jobbing operations under full load, pleasant temperatures prevail in the cab, with food and drinks also catered for as both can now be kept chilled from 0-16°C, or warmed from 45-65°C in a cool and warm box.
Current generation of operator’s seat
For the first time, there are six different seat configurations for the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series.
