Curtin research into the mental health of farmers has found financial stress is a major contributing factor to their higher anxiety levels, and that one in five farmers are at risk of social isolation.
The findings come directly from WA farmers who have participated in two online surveys as part of this research. The last and final survey has been released and all farmers, who have participated previously or not, as well as their partners/spouses, are urged to provide feedback to help researchers get a better understanding of the challenges facing the agricultural sector, and how to overcome them.
Children over the age of 18 who play an active role in the operation of a farming or pastoral enterprise in WA are also eligible to participate in the survey which should only take around 15-20 minutes to complete.
