Kawasaki Motors introduces the hard working MULE PRO-FX 1000 and FXT 1000

Kawasaki Motors Australia offers its most powerful Side x Side to date with the MULE PRO-FX 1000 able to carry three adult passenger and cart 453kg on the cargo bed and tow 907kg or easily convert the MULE PRO-FXT 1000 configuration to carry six passengers

Kawasaki’s MULE PRO Series is joined by two much beefier models, the MULE PRO FX and PRO FXT 1000 Side x Sides with a vastly upgraded engine and chassis performance.

Both models are fitted with a larger-displacement engine and are built by Kawasaki to lug more on a sturdier chassis with a longer-travel suspension.

In fact, these models move riders into a high-performance category as you warm to the power the compact 2-cylinder 52kW (71hp) parallel-twin engine can deliver in both lugging power and high torque, with an increased top speed of 89kph, the fastest MULE to date.

The extra power is complemented with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) transferring the power and that offers drivers immediate throttle response while delivering overall smooth acceleration and deceleration.

The CVT is combined with an electrically selectable 2WD/4WD system that has a dual-mode rear differential. Convenient dash-mounted switches allow the driver to instantly engage the systems, giving full control over the 4WD and locking rear differential.

Fitting the MULE PRO-FX/FXT 1000 models neatly into a farm operation as a dependable fleet addition workhorse is their ability to cart 453kg on the cargo bed and tow 907kg.

On certain models, there is also the choice of increased ground clearance and on the MULE PRO-FX 1000 HD Edition is Kawasaki’s first self-levelling rear suspension that helps keep the vehicle level when carrying a heavy load.

It works like this, when a load compresses the rear suspension, a built-in mechanical pump system automatically pumps up the suspension, returning the vehicle’s rear to optimum operating level.

Spreading the weight more evenly this way, the driver will see benefits in both handling and braking performance.

A multi-function display with white backlighting is built into the dash with an included digital speedometer, digital fuel gauge, odometer, hour meter, clock, dual trip meters, 2WD/4WD indicator, and parking indicator along with all required warning indicators

Adding to the prowess in the range is the MULE PRO-FXT 1000 with the added people or load carrying versatility of Kawasaki’s Trans Cab system.

This gives more options to extend carrying capacity with the larger cargo bed in three-person mode or instead, the choice to maximise personnel transport to six-person mode.

The Trans Cab system is easy to configure, and as an example enables transformations to be completed by just one person, in about a minute.

Depending on the model, ground clearance is 295mm or greater, reducing the chances of the MULE PRO-FX/FXT 1000 scraping its bottom, and this also translates to increased terrain accessibility while adding to ride comfort.

In addition to its tough engine and rugged frame construction, Kawasaki engineers have also paid attention to preventing the ingress of water and mud in very wet conditions, while also adding an efficient air cleaner design with a snorkel intake.

Double-wishbone suspension is used both front and rear to enable each of the wheels to

drive over obstacles with minimum effect on the chassis. Longer wheel travel set for the front at 279mm and the rear at 256mm contribute to increased ground clearance as well as ride comfort.

The wide-body chassis enables a much roomy interior space that offers the shoulder and legroom for three adults to comfortably sit side-by-side.

Kawasaki’s high-grade electric power steering (EPS) system is speed-sensitive, offering light steering effort at low speeds while reducing assistance at higher speeds to be responsive across all terrain.

Drivers can set the position of the tilt-adjustable steering wheel to suit their preference and can also move it out of the way to help with vehicle entry/exit.

Kawasaki’s self-leveling suspension keeps the vehicle level when carrying a heavy load allowing the weight to be spread more evenly and works by using the mechanical energy of the shock action to pump the oil as the vehicle is moving. The system is automatic 

There is easy access to the oil filter and dipstick while the air-cleaner filter is designed to facilitate

quick maintenance requirements. The improved dust resistance of the new intake duct system results in longer maintenance intervals.
