Kubota makes its presence felt in the material handling sector by revealing a telehandler that can be specced to suit most jobbing tasks

Already released in several world markets the Kubota KTH4815-2 telehandler is expected to fill some gaps for Kubota fleet operators with a handy lift height of up to 4.8 metres and a lifting capacity of 1.5 tonnes.
This is an important development for Kubota’s race for market share in the small material handling category and as a result, the company has been keen to power this model with its own three-cylinder D1803 engine offering EU Stage V compliance with engine power of 37kW (50hp) and service intervals out to 500 hours.
Kubota engineers were quick to point out just how user-friendly they have made the KTH4815-2 telehandler with the engine mounted in a transverse position on the right-hand side between the front and rear wheels. Giving operators easy access for daily checks, servicing and replacing filters.
Kubota engineers have stayed with their favourite and trusted component makers by fitting Carraro axles with a Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic transmission that offers two ranges with speeds of 0 to 7kph and 0 to 25kph respectively.
Armed with permanent 4WD operators can also take the option of front axle differential lock to gain additional traction, while the powertrain is fitted with multidisc brakes as standard.

The immediate market for the Kubota’s KTH4815-2 telehandler is farming and the construction sector with four versions including two ROPS/canopy equipped models with a curved front screen, and two fully glazed cab models with a two-piece door with the glazed upper section able to be secured in an open position.
To keep costs down, the entry-level KTH4815-2 is supplied without a 170kg rear counterweight and is shod on 10/75×15.3 narrow tyres. While a wider, 31/15.5-15 skid steer tyre option is also available.
Noticeable inventory not included on ROPS/canopy models is the left-hand door and work lights, while the specification of the two full cab models includes three work lights, side-view mirrors, heating and a radio. Air conditioning is available as an option, and all models benefit from a reach and rake adjustable steering column.
The highest specification KTH4815-2 in a typical rigid frame telehandler guise also includes three-mode steering, adding two-wheel and crab steering modes to the standard four-wheel steering function. Using four-wheel steering, a tight turning radius of 1.2m inner and 2.7m outer can be achieved.

Standard specifications of all four KTH4815-2 versions include hose burst check valves and a load-moment sensor with forward over-turn protection.
Additionally, hydraulic performance extends to up to 81 litres/min, with 51 litres available through an auxiliary circuit for powered attachments carried on the handler’s Eurohitch headstock. The telehandler is also fitted with a proportional joystick, as well as adjustable flow rate and memory function.

The Kubota KTH4815-2 has compact dimensions with an overall body width of 1.6m and an overall height just below 2m with an overall machine weight of 2950kg.
