Mercedes-Benz launches cab chassis for heavy loads

The tough Mercedes-Benz G300 CDI Cab Chassis is set to go on sale in Australia, and this is the only market in the world to receive the G300 CDI Cab Chassis models for civilian purchase. They have been designed to provide the toughness response for commercial off-road work.

Since being launched in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been the vehicle of choice for numerous military forces around the world and won the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1983 in the hands of Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur.

The G300 CDI Cab Chassis is powered by a 2987cc six-cylinder turbocharged diesel that powers up to 135kW (184hp) at 400Nm. This is coupled to a five-speed auto transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive with a 50:50 split.

It is equipped as standard with three 100 per cent differential locks that are selectable on the move, as well as a bull bar, snorkel and 16-inch alloy wheels in black. Other key touches include a water drain plug in the floor, a 96-litre fuel tank, two 12-volt batteries, a tyre pressure loss warning system, dirty air filter warning, brake pad wear indicator for the front axle brake, headlight and indicator stone guards, and radiator and oil sump shields.

Safety systems fitted include drive and passenger front airbags, anti-lock braking, brake assist and electronic stability program (selectable on/off).

The G300 CDI Cab Chassis has two seats, is fitted with eight mounting points on the rear chassis, and has a gross vehicle mass (GVM) rating of 4490kg. Tow capacity is 3.200kg (braked).

You can also specify the Winch Preparation Package for $1500 MRLP, and a Body Building Enhancement Package for $2500 MRLP, or Electrical Enhancement Package $4900 MRLP.

Options such as a walk-on bonnet $1900 MRLP, and heated seats $900 MRLP, can be selected as can tinted rear windows $700 MRLP.

The Mercedes-Benz G300 CDI Cab Chassis is now available to order with a Manufacturer’s Recommended List Price (MRLP) of $119,900.

The MRLP includes GST and any LCT applicable to the base spec model but excludes dealer delivery and all on road costs that vary for each state.
