Next-generation Nissan Navara builds on four decades of farm heritage in Oceania with the 2026 Navara Ute that is set to raise the bar in the one-tonne segment

Nissan has become relentless in its push to regain market share in the farm Ute market with upcoming releases of the Nissan Frontier Pro, a plug-in hybrid, and the Nissan Dune Patrol 4WD that many farmers would be interested in owning.
To whet appetites further, Nissan has unveiled its 2026 release Navara Ute well ahead of its official launch at the end of the first quarter of 2026.
This next-generation model is set to raise the bar in the current one-tonne segment, delivering an expected edge in reliability and progressing the Navara nameplate into a more advanced era of design. Including an extreme grille design.

The 2026 Navara will be offered in multiple grades of finish in a double-cab body to meet the requirements of local Ute buyers, who use their vehicles for farming and open roads.
All models get their power from a 2.4-litre turbodiesel with 150kW of power and 470Nm of torque delivered to a wide-ratio six-speed automatic transmission, with a 3,500kg braked towing capacity, and a rear cargo payload of one tonne.
Since December 1986, the Navara has been an integral part of many farm operations with close to 500,000 units sold across Australia and NZ.*
Marking its 40th anniversary in 2026, Navara engineers have taken everything local buyers have come to trust about the nameplate and elevates it to meet the demands of modern life.

This 2026 next-generation Navara is built on a robust Alliance platform that blends the most current global engineering with distinctive Nissan styling for a refined on- and off-road performance.
The next-generation Navara pushes the boundaries of the nameplate, offering greater power and torque, improved efficiency and a host of advanced technology functions that make on, or off-road driving, easier.
With over 90% of buyers opting for the outgoing D23 Navara as a double-cab variant, paired with an auto transmission, Nissan has simplified the line-up to offer the next-generation model exclusively in this body style from launch.

Local engineering meets innovation
The 2026 Navara benefits from a locally tuned and tested suspension developed by Premcar that meets needs of Ute buyers with exceptional on-road and off-road performance including stable handling when towing, and increased load-carrying ability.
The local suspension development program represents one of the most comprehensive engineering projects undertaken by Nissan with Premcar testing the Navara over eighteen thousand kilometres, across every conceivable surface from Outback corrugated roads to urban stop-start traffic with heavy loads.
All levels of the 2026 Navara are fitted with distinct, locally tuned suspension, optimised for our local conditions, to deliver a compliant and comfortable ride, both unladen and fully loaded.

Nissan DNA reimagined
Nissan designers have made an attempt to draw inspiration from the badge’s rich Ute heritage with an exterior that seamlessly integrates elements that connect it to previous generations, but as with the current push from all badges, they have moved to a more advanced concept.
With more Utes sold into suburbs than onto farms, the design trend with all marques has been to blend rugged capabilities with a more stylish look, and in this case, it ensures the Navara looks equally at home on a farm or construction site, as it does in a suburban driveway.
For decades, the V-strut grille has been a hallmark of Nissan Utes and SUVs, and while the 2026 Navara pays homage to this legacy, designers have modernised the bull bar-inspired V-strut shield at the front.

The three-slot design atop the grille pays tribute to the D21 Navara, while the C-shaped headlamps interlock with the grille to offer a signature shape to reflect Nissan’s move to more current technology.
This design fascination with front grilles has been unveiled as a pattern composed of smaller V-strut motifs within the mesh. These integrated iconic shapes have an aside value of supporting ample cooling but appear more of a statement to reinforce the bold, confident stance Nissan wants to convey to buyers.

Capable and aspirational
Nissan has positioned its range topping Navara PRO-4X model with unique styling cues that distinguish it as the flagship.
The exterior is finished in black with design elements of ‘Lava red’ accents that are meant to communicate its rugged off-road capability. Topped with a black sports bar and black 430mm (17-inch) wheels with 265/65R17 all-terrain tyres, the included towbar completes the look.
And while the interior of all grades of the 2026 Navara is spacious and well laid out, the PRO-4X model stands apart with Lava Red accents throughout, including on the leather-accented seats, as well as embossed logos and high contrast stitching.

Power when you need it
All models of the 2026 Navara are powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel delivering 150kW of power and 470Nm of torque matched to a wide-ratio six-speed automatic transmission.
This proven powertrain provides the performance needed for serious work applications while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency.
Fuel consumption figures of 7.7L/100km (combined cycle)# demonstrate the engine’s efficiency across the driving spectrum, from farm loads to highway cruising.
This powertrain combination ensures the Navara delivers enough power for towing and hauling loads to remote locations or tackling rough off-road terrain.
Both the driving experience and fuel economy are aided by the newly adopted Electric Power Steering (EPS). The system reduces parasitic losses that affect fuel economy and provides precise control across all driving conditions.

All-wheel drive confidence
The 2026 Navara will be available with a pair of advanced four-wheel-drive systems that seamlessly adapt to changing conditions and maximise both fuel efficiency and performance.
On applicable models, an ‘Easy 4WD’ system automatically switches between two-wheel drive for highway cruising and four-wheel drive when extra traction is needed. An electronic rear differential lock is included standard to provide additional traction in demanding off-road scenarios.
Additionally, for ST-X and PRO-4X models, a ‘Super 4WD’ system offers full-time high-range mode with an open centre differential, with a Torsen limited-slip diff that improves cornering stability by optimising torque distribution.
The ST-X and PRO-4X models also offer seven terrain modes – Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock – allowing the driver to tailor engine and traction settings to suit the terrain.
Advanced traction management works in conjunction with the locally developed suspension system to provide superior handling and control across all surfaces.
The system continuously monitors wheel slip, steering input, and terrain conditions to deliver power where it’s needed most, ensuring confident progress whether traversing rough farm tracks or slippery terrain.

Technology connected and intuitive
The Navara incorporates a comprehensive technology suite includes as standard a 230mm (9-inch) advanced infotainment system with a DAB digital radio, Android Auto> and wireless Apple CarPlay> connectivity, for seamless smartphone integration without cables.
Additionally, ST-X and PRO-4X models have wireless smartphone charging, conveniently located within the lower instrument panel.
A 180mm (7-inch) colour TFT dash display provides clear vehicle information for the driver and local buyers also benefit from MyNISSAN Navara** Connected Car Services, including remote HVAC control, emergency call functionality, stolen vehicle tracking, and remote door lock/unlock capabilities.

Model grade strategy explained
The 2026 Navara will be offered in multiple grades to meet the requirements of local Ute buyers for farms and open roads.
Entry-level models will focus on base capabilities and standard finishes, while the premium ST-X and the highly capable PRO-4X will be fitted with advanced technology and more comfort.
Additionally, for those seeking even greater off-road prowess, there is a Navara Warrior currently under development by Premcar, with the PRO-4X Warrior capable of placing Nissan back at the top of the Ute category for its design and capabilities.
