Goldacres has taken everything they know about trailed sprayers and have build it into the value packed Prairie Special Series 2 range

The farm equipment boom has run almost unabated for the past three winter seasons where demand for bigger and faster machines has seen manufacturers produce some of the most advanced models ever released.
But for many, it comes with a sigh of relief that Goldacres has started a production line run of its Prairie Special Series 2 trailed sprayers that will add a touch of levity back into the market.
Don’t think for one minute that Goldacres itself hasn’t been caught-up in the never-ending adding of every new whiz-bang component to make their sprayers more accurate, and quicker to run across a paddock.
As can be seen on the Goldacres Self-propelled G6 Series 2 Crop Cruiser and advanced trailed Priarie Pro Series 2 models, you couldn’t add another hot wire to efficiency heaven if you tried.
No expense has been spared to make Goldacres sprayers as good as any other models produced worldwide, and local growers have been right behind these updates as proven by their rush to place orders.
But let’s pause for a moment, with these upgrades and stacked to the hilt with technologies akin to a heat-seeking missile, comes a much heftier price tag.

Now that level of affordability is okay for many farm operations in expansion mode, the extra yield income and lower level of overall operator cost can sustain the initial higher model cost.
However, for the family operated farm with a more limited growing program where it’s down to the owner and a family member or trusted worker to operate the equipment, there is not the same level of model outlay required, more a focus in fact to keep costs in check.
One of the main reasons behind the upgrades to this latest release more operator assisted models is due to the perceived lower level of operator skillsets currently available.
But for a situation where a more competent operator is still available, it was a market almost left behind until Goldacres decided to release the Prairie Special Series 2 models for 2023.
Many operators will find a Prairie Special S2 is what they have been waiting for, and in a price bracket that is far more affordable than buying a fully loaded model they simply don’t need.
And while the Prairie Special S2 models are the most affordable, they have not escaped all the updates that go into making an efficient current model sprayer.
There are three things that make model-year 23 (MY23) Prairie Special S2 models stand out when compared to previous iterations.

Greater capacity Rapid fire – Rapid flow 3TS and Fast fill
All added to the series but tempered within a price range that is more appealing to competent operators.
This is an obvious major upgrade to the series of models Goldacres has been marketing under the Prairie Special name, first introduced into the Goldacres range in the mid 90’s.
From the onset the Prairie Special models were designed as a simple to operate sprayer with limited options.
Take for instance the 2500L, the product tank size was a mere 2500-litres but armed with a Raven Scs440 auto rate controller and newly designed “high folding” delta booms from 18 to 24 metres this was a major upgrade at the time for many farm operations.
The 2500L Special quickly established itself in the market as it was suited to many smaller cropping and pasture spraying operations, and praise soon started flowing for its strength and simplicity of operation.
Over the years that followed the Prairie Special range grew its appeal to a wider range of operations. Two further model designations were introduced, a Small Frame with product tank sizes of 2500 and 3000-litres and Large Frame 4000, 5000 and 6500-litre variants.

All along, the premise behind the Prairie Special range was held true. Engineering maintained a simplistic operational standard for competent operators in a cost-effective design and build.
Even though the Prairie Special range has stood the test of time with many devoted followers in its current guise, it’s the perception of progress that even this solid range must yield to, moving into 2023.
Taking advantage of the knowledge gathered from the high tech builds in other Goldacres models, the Prairie Special S2 has obviously advanced into a totally new beast, but still with all the attributes that helped it get this far.
For MY23 the large frame Prairie Special S2 now offers a seemingly endless choice of product tank capacities of 4000, 5000, 6500, 8500 and 10,000-litres.
Every size farm operation is catered for here, especially when there is the choice of boom working widths from 24 to 36m.

Now a little cleverer in design, but still simple in functionality, the Prairie Special S2 models share many design elements of its high-tech stable mate the recently released Prairie Pro Series 2.
The first of the new MY23 Prairie Special S2 models to come off the production line will be the 5000L and 6500L large frame Specials.
To celebrate the release, these models will be built in “limited Edition” specification.
The 5000L model will host a 5000-litre product capacity tank, and for the “limited Edition” production run is fitted with a 30m Tritech boom to shave hours of operational runs.
The 5000L MY23 Prairie Special S2 is armed with 5-section 3TS plumbing, with Rapid Fire and Rapid flow spraying technology packed in to make this model work at an optimum level.
Taking a further look-over there are also dual sided electric fence line nozzles fitted for maximum spray efficiency.
Also fitted is a 60-litre Induction hopper, with electric over hydraulic valve block, and the individual wing tilt is starting to turn this built into something special.

Also noticeable are the Airbag 2m axles with 18.4 x 38 wheels fitted along with mudguards to keep all the trash at bay.
To complete the build efficiency there is a 75mm (3-inch) high flow Fill Pump, the advantage of a hydraulic drive Zeta 260 Diaphragm pump and to top off the inclusions list is an ISOBUS PC1 spray control system for when the going becomes more complicated.
The other MY23 Prairie Special S2 to choose from the very first production line run is the 6500L fitted with a 36m Tritech boom and built in “limited Edition” specification.
Nailing down the specs on the 6500L armed with a 6500-litre product capacity tank, there is also 5-section 3TS plumbing, with Rapid Fire and Rapid flow spraying technology.
Also fitted are dual sided electric fence line nozzles, a 60-litre Induction hopper and an Electric over hydraulic valve block.
The 6500L is armed with individual wing tilt, built with Airbag 2m axles with 18.4 x 38 wheels and mudguards.
Getting into the production end is a 75mm (3-inch) high flow Fill Pump, hydraulic drive Zeta 260 Diaphragm pump and an ISOBUS PC1 sprayer control system is also nicely placed.
Goldacres Prairie Special S2 models hold the promise of retaining value for money in the trailed sprayer market while also being armed with everything expected of a 2023 model release.
