Massey Ferguson shakes up the compact tractor market with the release of the 1800 and 2800 E & M Series models in Australia and New Zealand

Massey Ferguson has aimed its 1800 and 2800 E & M Series compact tractors squarely at weekend lifestyle farmers and smaller rural property owners who will be surprised at the power on offer and just what these models are able to achieve.
They sit a notch above what has been available previously in the 26 to 44kW (35 to 60hp) compact category, with a combination of efficiency and performance that comes from their engineering including a cast steel rear end and front axle able to offer the dependability to handle the toughest challenges.
If Massey Ferguson engineers set out to knock the Chinese built look-alikes out of the market, they have achieved just that with these models coming out of Beauvais in France being simply leaps and bounds ahead in build quality and their ultimate performance.
A comparison to Chinese built tractors in the same power category is a little unfair, as the MF1800 and MF2800 E & M Series has been implanted with DNA from much bigger farming tractors out of the Massey Ferguson range. And it’s simply turned these MF compacts into overnight market leaders.
There are four models to choose from in both the E and M Series and they will join the existing MFGC1700 and MF2600 models.
This comprehensive compact range is purpose-built for small farm operations and lifestyle blocks and will also flow through to commercial fruit and vegetable farmers looking for some added lifting and pulling power in the surety of a strong build.
And do not underestimate the clean engines these models run. No soot or deadly particle producing engine emissions here, instead, clean (US-rated) Tier 4 Final emission levels that make it safe for the operator to run all day without health concerns.

MF 1800 and 2800 E Series
Massey Ferguson E Series compact tractors come with the current bold styling seen across the bigger MF tractor lines and are fitted with AGCO-owned Iseki diesel engines with power ranging from 26 to 42kW (34.9 to 57.3hp).
These models are equipped with open-centre hydraulic power that allows a wide range of farm jobbing with available implement hydraulic flow of 28.9-litres/min. This significant hydraulic capacity is due to the dual-pump high-flow system that provides more responsive power at low engine speeds.
MF E Series models offer a high-capacity rating for the compact market they represent and will give buyers the confidence to take on heavy-duty jobbing and tough applications.
Massey Ferguson E Series 4-wheel drive tractors are built to last with a cast steel rear end and cast front axle to complement the weight and traction necessary to handle demanding tasks. This compact model range is the best offered to date for rural property owners and local municipalities, and commercial contractors.
Able to be equipped with a broad range of implements and attachments make these models a versatile and economical choice to easily transport hay bales or move heavy bulk materials.

AGCO engineers have unreservedly set out to take command of the compact tractor market with the release of these E Series models fitted with a manageable 3-range hydrostatic transmission.
In addition, the 1800E models offer a simple Category I rear 3-point hitch, while the 2800E models are equipped with a Cat. I/II 3-point hitch with up to 1100kg lift capacity.
Compatibility with a wide range of implements is ensured, including Massey Ferguson FL Series front-end loaders and CB backhoes, depending on the model. Third-function loader control enables the use of a wide array of front attachments, such as a 4-in-1 bucket. While a 540-rpm rear PTO is standard.
Not only are MF E Series tractors operator-friendly with all the power required at hand, but they also come at a competitive price point for a cost-effective solution that is sure to sway buyers away from Chinese-built models.
From within the range, the 1835E and 1840E models get their power from a turbocharged 1.83-litre, 3-cylinder Iseki engine that provides 25 and 29kW (34.5 and 39.4hp), respectively.

While the larger chassis 2850E and 2860E are equipped with a bigger 2.43-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder Iseki engine that is able to deliver 36 and 42kW (48.8 and 57.3hp).
The engines are liquid-cooled for increased durability, and best of all are clean-burning to achieve (US-rated) final Tier IV emissions standards for equipment used worldwide in a broad range of demanding agriculture, turf, and commercial applications.
Operators can expect MF E Series tractors to provide significant advantages due to the hard-working Iseki diesel engines fitted. Including outstanding fuel efficiency, higher power and torque levels achieved, as well as reliability.
Additionally, there is the ease of servicing and maintaining these tractors that will ensure they remain efficient and dependable throughout their lifetime.
All MF E Series models have an open station with a wide uncluttered platform that offers ample room and comfort for the operator. While all controls are intuitively arranged and simple to understand from the outset.
And while E Series compact tractors sport a fresh current design, reflecting the look of bigger Massey Ferguson utility and high-powered tractors. Operators can still count on the solid metal hood and fenders fitted, much stronger and less susceptible to damage than plastic variants.

1800 and 2800 M Series
Massey Ferguson offers a four-model range in the 4-wheel-drive M Series, with power from advanced Iseki engines from 26 to 44kW (35 to 60hp).
The MF 1800M and 2800M models can be ordered with a factory-installed cab or with an open-station ROPS for those blessed with an urge to embrace the great outdoors and save money on the purchase price.
Once again, these models will build on Massey Ferguson’s reputation to supply the most advanced compacts with better inclusions and more reliable performance than just about any other models currently being offered.
Take for instance the two MF 1800 M Series tractors. They get their power from a solid 1.83-litre, 3-cylinder Iseki diesel engine at 27 and 29kW (36.2 and 39.4hp) respectively.
While the bigger models in the MF 2800M Series are fitted with a 2.43-litre, 4-cylinder Iseki engine, offering power of 36 and 44kW (48.8 and 60.3hp) respectively.
For operations where more power and quicker response times are required, MF 2800 M Series models will fit perfectly, with turbocharged engines for responsive power and liquid-cooled for increased durability.
These clean-burning Iseki engines meet (US-rated) Tier 4 Final emission standards and are accepted as one of the most reliable available and can be found in specialised equipment used worldwide in demanding agriculture and commercial applications.
The MF M Series compact tractors are also presented with the current design approach that reflects the look of bigger Massey Ferguson utility and high-powered tractors.

Smooth operation and comfort
The M Series premium compacts are fitted as standard with a 3-range hydrostatic transmission that is simple and intuitive to operate. It allows the operator to reach the speed required from within each range without shifting gears.
In addition, dual foot-pedal controls make for quick and easy forward/reverse direction changes. While cruise control allows operators to set and maintain their preferred work or transport speed.
Massey Ferguson M Series compact tractors will fit into every budget as they can be ordered as either a full-cab with many more inclusions than you would expect in this model category, or in a more affordable open-station ROPS configuration.
Operators will be surprised at the quality offered by the open-station ROPS models as they include tilt-steering and a flat, unobstructed platform.
In addition, there is a premium seat that provides greater support and comfort for the operator when working in rough conditions or across uneven terrain.
A handy addition to these ROPS models is a thumb-controlled throttle ― also available on cab models ― it lets operators quickly dial in the right engine rpm.

The standard cab models in the Massey Ferguson M Series benefit from functions first introduced to cabs on bigger models and have dual lockable entry/exit doors, tilt steering adjustment and well-functioning heating and air conditioning.
