See how a seasoned spray contractor has incorporated MagrowTec technology to transform applications and reduce input costs substantially

Andrew Kennedy of Kennedy Spraying Services in Mount Gambier SA has built a reputation for delivering exceptional results, and much of that has been through innovation.
With over 35 years of experience in the spraying industry, Andrew made a bold move in 2020. He enhanced his operation by fitting a MagrowTec system to one of his custom-built 24-metre MAN spray trucks.
Spraying seed crops, particularly those with dense and challenging canopies is a core part of Andrew’s business. Coverage, especially in the lower canopy, is critical to achieving effective disease and pest control.
Since adopting MagrowTec’s innovative technology, Andrew has seen remarkable improvements in coverage, ensuring better protection for customers’ crops.

Game-changing trial
With the full support of the MagrowTec team, in March 2021 Andrew went on to conduct a groundbreaking trial to compare the performance of a MagrowTec-equipped sprayer versus a conventional sprayer.
The trial was focused on coverage within the lower canopy of a seed carrot crop, with product applied using two different nozzles.
The results were outstanding. The MagrowTec system significantly outperformed the conventional sprayer, delivering a 52.4% increase in coverage with nozzle 1 and a 63.3% increase with nozzle 2.
These improvements, combined with a 50 to 60% reduction in drift, allowed Andrew to boost productivity, reduce water usage, and spray many more crops daily.

Long-Term Impact
Two years after installing the MagrowTec system across his fleet, Andrew remains highly impressed with its performance.
“We fitted the MagrowTec system, and we haven’t looked back since. The cost savings we’re getting every day are mind-blowing. This system has probably extended our spray window by a day or a day and a half each week,” Andrew shared.
As Chairman of the Australian Ground Sprayers Association, Andrew has become a passionate advocate for the MagrowTec system, emphasising, “there is a better way of doing things.”

Exploring nozzle possibilities
The 2021 trial’s success gave Andrew the confidence to experiment with different nozzles, further enhancing his operation.
“We do a lot of insecticide work in the summertime with fungicides, and we’re getting just as good results with lower rates,” Andrew continued.
“Last year, I grew a chickpea crop that only needed one fungicide application for the entire season. If you only have to do one pass instead of three, you’re ahead of the game.
