Biogas as a power source for farms has become a reality with the release of New Holland’s T7.270 Methane Power CNG tractor across Europe

Catch up on the progress of biogas as a main power source for farms, as New Holland launches the T7.270 Methane Power CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) tractor down the production line.
Initially, the tractor can be ordered in Europe from the end of 2025, with the first deliveries in April 2026, with the rest of the world to follow.
The T7 Methane Power tractor can run on biomethane derived from livestock manure, supporting on-farm sustainability as New Holland enables farms to capture, process and refine fugitive methane for use as fuel.
This closed-loop system reduces emissions, cuts fertiliser use, and can even achieve a negative carbon footprint.

Underneath the T7 Methane Power hood is the proven NEF 6.7-litre six-cylinder engine upgraded with a high-performance turbo, redesigned engine dataset, a specific fuel system and aftertreatment layout.
The engine’s peak torque is 1,160Nm, and produces a maximum 199kW (270hp) under all conditions due to new engine mapping, with the T7.270 Methane tractor dimensions remaining within the design envelope of its diesel stablemate.
With a top standard speed of 40kph or optional 50kph, along with a maximum rear lift of 10.4 tonnes and front lift of 5.9 tonnes, nothing is missing from this package. Service intervals are every 750 hours.
And while the T7 Methane Power model develops just as much power as the diesel-powered T7.270, by rethinking the fuel storage layout, engineers have created a tractor with a tank capable of holding 657 litres of gas, along with an optional 480-litre range extender, for a total capacity of 1,137 litres.

When fitted, the range extender delivers up to 11 hours’ autonomy in transport applications. Already widely used in road vehicles, an NGV2 refuelling valve supports pressures of up to 260 bar for rapid refuelling times equivalent to diesel.
The T7.270 is fitted with New Holland Auto Command continuously variable transmission, for a smooth working experience and highly efficient fuel consumption, particularly when transporting high-capacity trailers of 18-tonnes plus.
Built on the T7 with PLM Intelligence platform, the T7.270 Methane Power tractor is fitted with the award-winning Horizon Ultra cab, one of the industry’s quietest at just 66 decibels.
Incorporating enhanced operator comfort with increased space and advanced suspension, the tractor management is simplified by the latest IntelliView 12, 305mm (12-inch) interface integrated into the SideWinder armrest.

While full TIM compatibility enables seamless implement integration on both the front and rear.
The T7.270 Methane Power also benefits from New Holland Intelligence solutions, able to integrate digital technologies for two-way transfer of machine and paddock data between the tractor and the FieldOps portal.
From data automatically recorded it allows farm managers to monitor progress and for dealers to provide instant remote support if required.
The New Holland T7.270 Methane Power CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) tractor, officially joins the New Holland range, taking the brand’s alternative fuel technology further up the power scale.
European dealers are officially taking orders now for deliveries in April and May 2026.
