Abbey Machinery Smart tanker is the most advanced model available with reduced emissions technology and able to cut back the spread time by 30%

The model line of Abbey slurry and manure spreaders is well proven.

In 1992, Abbey Machinery became the first agricultural manufacturer in Ireland to introduce Low Emission Slurry Spreading.

Abbey perfected their technique to build models able to apply slurry to farmland that was able to produce much lower level of methane and ammonia emissions.

Prior to the release of the Abbey range, environmental pollutants from slurry spreading accounted for over 30% of Europe’s ammonia emissions.

Abbey Machinery was able to reduce emissions by designing models with a more efficient way to spread slurry.

This was achieved with more sustainable applicators able to reduce the surface area of the slurry by placing it in narrow bands on the grass. This design resulted in a 60% reduction in ammonia losses.

Since pioneering these technologies, Abbey Machinery has distributed hundreds of LESS applicators and Smart slurry tankers to the global market, improving farming practices worldwide.

Adding an Abbey Tanker means the work can be finished far quicker due to the wide range of slurry systems available being tailored to your operation

Green Future in spreading

The resultant environmental impacts are impressive, and Abbey Machinery continues to innovate with their latest spreaders now being built wider. This reduces emissions even further it also cuts back the spread time by 30%.

It allows farmers to complete the work quicker, with much lower fuel use and less soil compaction.

Another design addition has been to add Near-Infra-Red (NIR) technology to measure the slurry’s nutrient makeup.

This enables farmers to significantly diminish the use of artificial fertiliser and reduce overall product cost.

Models that local farmers are drawn to from the Abbey slurry and manure spreaders range include some of the world’s best.

Abbey Slurry tankers

Abbey manufacture 37 slurry tankers with product capacities from 4000 to 27,000-litres.

There is a range of models to suit all types of farm applications starting with the Standard Series and then followed by the Open Top, Recess Premium and Premium Plus, Tandem and Tridem tankers.

In the Standard tankers range there are five models, the 900, 1100, 1300, 1600 and 2000 with product capacities from 4,000 to 9,000-litres.

These models are proven as the most economical to use with Slurry fertiliser.

Recess Tanker Premium and Premium Plus range have been designed to complete any challenging tasks and are engineered for a long work life. With product carrying capacities from 7,200 to 9,000-litres.

These well-built models offer current release technologies, while the full-length chassis construction and weight sensing sprung drawbar add to barrel strength and reduced surging of liquids during transport.

Abbey Machinery also offer two different Tandem Tanker ranges, which include Tandem and Tandem Recess Tankers.

Abbey Smart tanker leads slurry and manure applications into the future

There are six Tandem Tankers with product capacity from ranging from 10,200 to 20,500-litres, while the four models in the Tandem Recess Range offer capacities from 12,700 to 19,500-litres.

The Tandem Tanker range are supplied as standard with a self-steer Bogie system, Parabolic Weight Sensing Sprung Drawbar, MEC 11,000 pump, hydraulic 420 X 180 brakes with 120 sq. Axle.

The rear is hydraulically operated and includes a heavy-duty outlet valve, inverted spreading plate and One blank fill point with a 2-inch) wash trap. There are two complete quick attach fill points, and 6m (20ft) of 150mm (6-inch) suction hose.

Sitting at the top line in the Abbey Machinery slurry tanker line, is the new SMART tanker.

This 15,900-litre capacity recess tandem-axle tanker comes complete with an NIR sensor and ISOBUS compatible application rate technology including a flow meter, sense gate valve, automatically operated electric actuator.

The Near-Infra-Red (NIR) technology actively measures the nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and dry matter in the slurry. This allows you to apply exacting nutrients where and when they are needed, this increases sustainability and significantly reduces artificial fertiliser inputs on-farm.

The ISOBUS solution while actively controlling the tanker and application rate technology, allows the distributor head to be sequenced electronically to operate within a group of functions.

Build quality

Produced to the highest manufacturing standards, Abbey Tankers incorporate heavy duty barrels, collared dish ends for improved barrel strength and support.

They are fitted with long wearing Battioni Pagani pumps, heavy duty axles and have a unique patented double trap pump protection system.

These tankers can be ordered with a variety of pump options depending on the requirement, so a model can be customised especially if required.

The Abbey Tanker build includes as standard hydraulic brakes, LED lights, a 500mm (20-inch) rear service door, hydraulically operated heavy-duty outlet, inverted spreading plate.

There is a complete 203mm (8-inch) fill point, with a 4.5m (15ft) suction hose, two blanked-off fill points and one blanked-off with 50mm (2-inch) wash tap.

Fitted with 550/60 x 22.5 flotation tyres these models move across the ground quickly and work through an MEC 9,000 litres/min ballast pump. They are fitted with a wide-angle driveshaft.

They come standard with a double trap system, and with a relief valve, pressure gauge, front sight tube and rear sight glass.

There are four by 203mm (8-inch) filling points, with a 150mm (6-inch) manual parallel hose quick coupler.

There are brackets to retro-fit autofill at 150mm (6-inch), with a manual gate valve for filling and a hydraulic rear valve for emptying.

There is an inverted splash plate and 12m of 150mm (6-inch) hose supplied as two 6m lengths. These sit on the side hose carrying brackets.

Abbey Machinery AP multi-spreaders have a heavy duty drive that is easy to service while the discharge rotor is fitted with shear bolt as standard

Manure Spreaders

Abbey also manufactures a leading range of manure spreaders with side discharge flail or choose from the heavy-duty Multi Spreader range.

There are two AP multi-spreader models with product carrying capacities range from 7.25 to 9.0-cub.m.

The Abbey AP Multi Spreader from this series is designed with a large diameter heavy duty auger to create an even flow of material without clogging.

In addition, attention to include a strongly constructed drum ensures good material flow and the base is fitted with a double skin to provide additional years of service.

An advantage here is the heavy-duty drive design is simple, reliable and easily accessible when routine maintenance is required.

The discharge rotor is fitted with shear bolt as standard. While the door open/close indicator is clearly visible from the tractor cab.

Spring Paddles ensure an even flow of material onto the discharge rotor, and the unique floor design further reduces the possibility of small stone blockages.

Abbey Machinery AP multi-spreader models have a product capacity range from 7.25 to 9.0 cub

These models offer a continuous even spread, with a fast and complete emptying being hallmarks of this unique machine design.

Overshot expellers provide greater fragmentation of material, giving an even spread over a large area, while also preventing lumping.

The high rate of discharge velocity throws material clear of wheel track.

There is also the choice of an Abbey flail side spreader.

There are a further six AB side-spreader models with product carrying capacities that range from 4.6 to 12.2-cub.m.

The Abbey Machinery Flail Side Spreader range is built with increased chassis support to provide maximum strength and durability to the drum.

The driveline of the Abbey Machinery Side Spreader is claimed as unequalled by any other model in the current market.

Abbey Machinery flail side spreader models have a product capacity range from 4.6 to 12.2 cub.m

The use of a splined shaft on the seamless rotor for chain driving gives these models maximum strength.

The heavy-duty spreading chassis is anchored to the seamless heavy duty rotor tube in spiral formation allowing for the optimum spreading pattern to be achieved.

Heavy duty bearings are fitted on each end of the rotor away from the manure to extend the life of the bearings.
