The award for the European Tractor of the Year 2023 has been taken out by the Fendt 728 Vario in a presentation at the EIMA in Bologna Italy

In a powerful show of manoeuvrability and all-rounder ability and with a newly developed Fendt VarioDrive driveline, the judges couldn’t go past the Fendt 728 Vario as the European Tractor of the Year 2023.
It’s the tractor that appears to have it all with an integrated VarioGrip tyre pressure control system, FendtONE and up to 223kW (300hp) output in an easy to operate package of power and agility.
See our recent feature story on the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 Series of five models on this link and see some of the reasons why the Fendt 728 Vario was chosen.
In addition these are some of the Fendt 728 Vario attributes that impressed the judges and took the tractor across the line, “The main features of the Tractor of the Year 2023 winner, include a new 6-cylinder 7.5-litre AGCO-Power engine that produces 210kW (283hp) and also offers extra boost power up to 15kW (20hp) in all conditions.
“It is fitted with a new transmission, a new hydraulic and cooling system and a safe cabin with filtration level at cat. 4). Among the new features you will find separate hydro motors for drive front and rear axels; constant 4-wheel drive automatically regulated for best traction, pull-in turn to reduce the turning radius up to 10%.

“In addition there is the Fendt iD low-speed concept, intelligent VarioDrive, integrated tyre pressure control system Fendt VarioGrip, superior manoeuvrability, very low weight-to-power ration, a new generation front loader, a premium operators seat and the Fendt “on & offboard” digital universe FendtONE,” the award judges added.
Accepting the award, Christoph Gröblinghoff, Chairman of the Fendt Management Board said, “Models in the Fendt 700 Vario series are our best-selling tractors and are used by farmers all over the world.
“For our Fendt engineers, it was therefore a challenge to make something good even better. Factors such as low fuel consumption combined with high performance of up to 225kW (300hp), soil conservation and maximum flexibility for different applications are very important for our professional customers worldwide.
“I am very pleased to receive this award for our new top model Fendt 728 Vario from an international and independent jury of experts,” Christoph Gröblinghoff added.

The European “Tractor of the Year” award has been presented once a year since 1998 by an independent jury that consists of agricultural journalists from 25 different European countries.
Since its inception, Fendt products have already won the European “Tractor of the Year” award in the main category seven times, more than any other brand. The Fendt Favorit 700 Vario won the coveted award for the first time back in 1999.
