The invention of the stepless Vario drive happened around about 20 years ago.
Every tractor that is manufactured at Fendt Marktoberdorf is now fitted with a Vario gearbox.
And on November 27, 2016, the 250,000th Vario unit rolled off the production line.
It is an anniversary that the agricultural machinery manufacturer deserves to celebrate.
“The stepless Vario gearbox is the only transmission solution for us,” Peter-Josef Paffen said, talking about the decision taken over 20 years ago to go with Vario.
“At the time we consciously opted for this innovative technology and started implementing it almost right away in every range and power level.
“We now offer the solution for every power band, from 50 to 500 HP. Whatever the operation, the customer can always carry out their work at the right speed. There’s just no alternative for us,” said the CEO of AGCO/Fendt.
To mark the anniversary, the company showed its gratitude with a special promotion launching 250, 500, 700, 800 and 900 Vario series models in the new colour, Fendt Nature Green, and with a premium package of designer features.
Since 2009, all Fendt series, from the narrow-gauge tractor to the heavy-duty tractor, feature the Vario transmission.
