FNQ Field Days combines Men’s Sheds power in 2019

The FNQ Field Days have donated $30,000 to local Men’s Sheds, a welcome surprise for the Presidents of the Mareeba, Atherton, Kuranda, Julatten, Malanda, Ravenshoe and Herberton Men’s Sheds. Strategic partners for 2019 are MSF Sugar, Mareeba Mazda and Mareeba Tyrepower

It will be bigger and better than ever was the phrase on everyone’s lips when the Rotary FNQ Field Days 2019 campaign launched event details at the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds in Qld.

With more than 18,000 people through the gates in 2017 and raising a record $220,000 for charity, it’ll be no mean feat to top this in 2019 but Rotary FNQ Field Days committee chair Ida Portella is set for the challenge.

“The committee is working incredibly hard to ensure this is another successful event,” Ms Portella said.  “We always expect bumper crowds, especially this year as we’re bringing new and different attractions that will appeal to farmers, their families and the broader community.

“This year our focuses on Farm Safety, Innovation and Mental Wellness are going to be a highlight with some really fantastic activities and speakers associated with those. “Our site sales have exceeded our expectations and that comes from the fact that exhibitors who attend are aware that we run a very professional event.”

Ms Portella said many previous exhibitors were returning thanks to having a such a positive experience and excellent sales, while new exhibitors were attracted to FNQ Field Days due to its reputation. “For 2019, we’ve made some changes to our site plan, a new section for exhibitors, alfresco dining and a family friendly area.

We’ll continue reinventing ourselves, making changes to grow the event.”

In a first, the Field Days committee donated $30,000 to local Men’s Sheds, a welcome surprise for the Presidents of the Mareeba, Atherton, Kuranda, Julatten, Malanda, Ravenshoe and Herberton Men’s Sheds.

“In line with the focus on Mental Wellness, the Field Days committee decided this year to give these funds to the Men’s Sheds because we know how important it is to create awareness about mental health and healthy living, especially among rural people,” Ms Portella explained.

Following the success of the three-day format in 2017, a first in the event’s long history, the 2019 Field Days will again run from Wednesday through to Friday.

“We have continued the three-day format as we had positive feedback from the exhibitors and those who attended, as well as better traffic conditions,” Ms Portella said. “It also gives everyone that extra day, and this year we have also asked exhibitors to extend trading to 6pm on the Thursday.”

The 2019 line-up reveals the return of crowd favourites including the Tractor Pull, ATV/Quad Bike safety and 4WD vehicle demonstrations, Health and Wellbeing Pavilion, Drone Ag demo, Venomous Snake Pit run by Rescue Swag and the Innovation Pavilion.

Additional attractions that are certain to grab interest include an Ag Art Wear competition, Colt Start horse handling demonstrations, revamped Future Innovations junior’s competition and a Farmers Dinner with sports personality and men’s health advocate Shane Webcke.

Mareeba Tyrepower, MSF Sugar and Mareeba Mazda are the strategic partners of the Rotary FNQ Field Days 2019.
