JCB has launched the The TM420 to its pivot-steer range into Europe and North America.
The TM420 has a 4.1 tonnes lift capacity and the total reach is 5.4m. JCB has stuck with its own 107kW (145hp), 4.8-litre JCB Tier 4 final/Stage 4 engine. A six-speed powershift gearbox keeps it up to pace and it sports a 160-litre/min hydraulic piston pump.
For those that start comparing the TM420 to the 320S they will find the 420 stands 120mm taller and 659mm longer, with an extra step to help access.
Its cab sits in rather than on the axle, with flex coming from the articulating centre pivot.
A full redesign of the boom mounting and pivot point using chunkier, one-piece steel has made the main stress points stronger and able to stand serious abuse.
