For the team at McDougall Weldments, it’s a simple ‘the proof is in the pudding’ response when talking about their local manufacturing business that has been running for more than 50 years.

Since its inception, McDougall Weldments has upheld its manufacturing standard to the highest levels for quality agricultural and industrial equipment.

McDougall Weldments from the very start knew that having equipment that can survive harsh environmental conditions is crucial for efficient farming operations.

In 1968, Gordon McDougall started McDougall Weldments in Cuballing WA, after a short career on the family farm at Wagin WA where he worked as a shearing contractor and general farm worker.

Gordon was a self-taught and natural welder, and he soon became renowned for his quality-built McDougall transportable sheepyards, for which he got a well deserved boost when he won the then Dowerin Inventor Award in 1974.

The McDougall transportable sheepyards are still he company’s flagship product and were designed and built so well from the very start that the range has barely changed since the 1970s.

“Over the years, the yards have held up so well that we have barely had to make any modifications,” Gordon McDougall confirmed.

The sheep yards have earned a reputation that is tough to equal and they are highly sought after second hand as well if they come up at a clearing sales.

And while the McDougall transportable sheepyards built up the reputation of the company, there has also been a demand for other product lines over the years and this has prompted the company into manufacturing more farm products.
