Expect record results at the 2023 Nutrien Classic with quality entrants from leading studs in the performance horse industry with the quality of horses elevating each year

The results from the 2022 Classic have set high hopes for the 2023 event and the team at Nutrien Equine is looking forward to welcoming back attendees for another exciting year.

Since its inauguration in 2008, the Nutrien Classic has become a signature event in the performance horse industry with the quality of horses elevating year after year.

Last year, the Nutrien Classic was a record-breaking year with the highest-ever sales price of $550,000 for Bad in Black. The event also achieved a 91% sale clearance rate and a total sale value of over $17M. 2022 has set high hopes for the 2023 event.

Nutrien Equine’s Mark Barton said, “Last year we saw some record-breaking sales results. This year, we’ve accepted and catalogued 653 sale horses and we’re hoping that the results will be just as outstanding.”

The program of events for this year’s Classic will follow the same structure as in previous years, with the first round of the Open Campdraft kicking off on Friday 27 January, and wrapping up with the final sale of horses on Sunday 5 February.

Spectators will not be disappointed with a jam-packed program of events including the Open, Ladies, Young Guns and Classic Campdraft and Finals, the Challenge, the Stallion Shootout, and the highly anticipated Nutrien Classic Equine Sale

“A total of 1,169 entries have been accepted into the Campdraft and Challenge events and the prize pool for this year’s event exceeds $420,000,” said Mark. “The entries we’ve received are indicating another year of high-quality competition across all events.”

In addition to the main program of events, the Nutrien Store Cattle Sale will take over the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange on Wednesday 1 February 2023, with a quality offering of cattle expected to fall under the hammer.

Preparations are also well underway for the Classic Ladies Foundation Charity Auction, Monster Raffle and Long Lunch, with all proceeds being donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Pancare Foundation.

“2022 was a fantastic year for everyone involved and we’re hoping that 2023 will not disappoint. With a number of new and returning competitors, vendors, buyers and spectators, we look forward to welcoming them to another outstanding showcase of the Performance Horse industry,” Mark added.
