Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is introducing the OJA tractor to take the company into the global market with a range of sub-compacts to large utility models

Mahindra Tractors, part of the farm equipment sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M), has introduced OJA as the brand name for its new future-ready range of tractors with an ambitious program to launch worldwide.
And in keeping with Indian tradition, where everything has a meaning or purpose in its origin, the name OJA is from the Sanskrit dialect word Ojas, which stands as a symbol for Vitality, Energy and Strength.
The OJA will represent Mahindra’s launch of a light-weight global tractor platform to tackle international markets, and in particular, try to gain market share in the US and also Japan where similar tractor models are currently flourishing.
The OJA has been developed through close cooperation between the engineering teams of Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery in Japan and Mahindra Research Valley in India, the main R&D centre for Mahindra’s Auto and Farm sector.

The OJA will be built to cater for buyers in four main tractor categories, from small sub-compacts to compacts, small utilities and large utilities. Overall, it is expected the range will include over 40 models across multiple engine power ranges.
Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector was given the job of announcing the brand name and said, “Ahead of the global premiere of the production version of our most awaited tractor program codenamed K2, we at Mahindra are pleased to announce OJA as the brand name of Mahindra’s new light-weight tractor range.
“Slated for launch later this year, the OJA is Mahindra’s Future Ready approach to tractorisation exemplified by numerous first-best-in-class technologies for improved performance and productivity, through which we aim to transform farming and enrich farmers’ lives.”

OJA tractors will be manufactured exclusively at Mahindra’s Zaheerabad tractor facility, one of South Asia’s largest tractor manufacturing plants. This vertically integrated tractor facility also rolls out Mahindra’s next-generation range of Yuvo and Jivo tractors, including the recently launched Plus Series of tractors.
The Zaheerabad plant is technologically advanced with the capability of rolling out over 330 different tractor variants ranging in engine power from 22 to 74kW (30 to 100hp). The plant has the capacity to build over 100,000 tractors a year.
