With the purchase of DE Silos in WA it has boosted the Satake Oceania operation to a prime position in silo manufacturing and supply
While Satake Oceania is not currently a name that every grower will be aware of for the manufacture and supply of on-farm grain storage silos, all of that is about to change quickly.
Following the recent purchase of the DE Silos operation in WA it has given the brand the whole country network they have been missing up until now. This places Satake Oceania in a position to supply growers in any region with quality on-farm storage manufactured locally.
Large silos for bulk material handling and on-farm storage were already well covered within the Satake Oceania portfolio of product lines, and with the inclusion of DE Silos within the operations it has expanded the product offering to include a leading range of transportable silos and field bins.
DE Silos reputation stands as the leading manufacturer of bulk material processing and storage equipment in Western Australia, as they have been revolutionising on-farm storage and product handling for nearly five decades.
The purchase of DE Silos in WA adds a national dimension to the Satake Oceania coverage across the country that includes the group take-over the long-running Denny Silos operation based in Queensland to cover eastern states installations back in April 2020.
“At Satake we are really focussed on providing the right solution to our customers whether that be an easily transportable field bin, all the way through to complex engineered systems that are specifically designed for each business,” explains Craig Doorey the Satake Oceania Director and Head of Engineering, Sales and Accounting.
“DE Silos have such a strong legacy and together with the backing of the global innovation and technology of Satake, we have the right solution to meet every customer’s needs, in the rapidly changing and challenging environment of agriculture.
“With our expansion into Western Australia, together with our existing Dennys Silos operations in Queensland, we now not only offer a wider range of storage options but have broadened our operations nationally,” Craig Doorey adds.
Satake Oceania expansion
Following the acquisition of Denny’s silos by Satake Australia in 2015 there has been a steady expansion of the Satake operation with direct sales staff and agents operating in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand. With international sales also coordinated through Thailand and Japan.
At the forefront of the expansion has been the increased capacities in storage that’s seen silo manufacturing previously capped at 712 tonnes for conical and 3000 tonnes for flat bottom silos increase substantially.
The Allora QLD based division with the benefit of international resources ramped up construction to more than double the previous conical silo offering to 1445 tonnes. These conical silos stretch 12.2m wide and 21m high.
Resources were also ploughed into the flat bottom silo to double the previous storage capacity to 6000 tonnes. These flat bottom silo measures 22.4m in diameter and 23m in height.
The full complement of flat bottom silos from the Denny’s division range in capacity from 1100 to 10000 tonnes. While elevated siloes range in capacity from 56 to 2000 tonnes.
Growers have grabbed the chance to increase their on-farm storage capacity through Satake, with the company able to assemble the galvanised steel at the factory and truck them on-farm or to grain depots for onsite installation.
These big capacity silos from Satake were particularly in demand in the all-time record 2022-23 winter harvest when 68 million tonnes of grain had to be stored securely without delay and in many cases kept until the price improved later in the season.
The Denny’s silo division of Satake was at the forefront of a major job when it installed eight 345 tonnes silos at the Central Queensland (CQ) Inland Port at Yamala in time for its September 2022 opening.
Now with the purchase of DE Engineers’ silo division in WA the purpose-built manufacturing complex completed in 2010 will serve growers across the west to the Victorian border.
The fusion of DE Engineers’ specialised knowledge and Satake’s global reach will quickly elevate the availability of the product range and services available to local growers.
Satake Oceania is the best-positioned local manufacturer moving forward with the capacity to meet the challenges of our rapidly evolving on-farm grain production storage requirements.
With the coveted DE Silos product offering include a leading range of transportable silos and field bins available to eastern state growers for the first time, a quick expansion will get underway.
DE Silos manufacture the largest transportable silos in Australia with storage capacities from 3 to 86 tonnes. And offer Spiral silos from 109 to 152 tonnes.
While DE Silos have the most sought-after field bin on the market, fully engineered not to fail when operating with side walls that don’t crumple when filling. With capacities ranging from 45 to 87 tonnes.
