With working widths from 5 to 24m the Ultisow range of seeding bars from Serafin Machinery is proving one of the most popular to order for the upcoming season

Local seeding and tillage manufacturer Serafin Machinery based in Griffith NSW has been designing its own range of no-till disc seeders since 2008.
It all started with a straightforward design, a 12m Ultisow single disc air seeder frame called the S40 and has quickly grown into a full range of seeding bars, available with working widths from 5 to 24m and row spacings that can be set as narrow as 150mm (6-inches).
Serafin’s Ultisow S40 reinforced the company’s reputation for building super strong and heavy frames from 9mm RHS to get the ground penetration required in all regions.
The Ultisow S40 was also purpose designed with a narrow transport width of 4.4m which allows farmers to get around with a single escort.
The Ultisow S40 12 metre bar has been developed to cater for a wide range of farm operations with a 500mm (20-inch) disc and the choice of 36 to 60 rows, and row spacings set from 333mm down to 150mm.
Over time, Serafin Machinery has made some significant upgrades to its frame to suit a wider variety of uses. This includes adding a 3m wide CTF tramline option, designed from the standard frame but running a single arm with larger tyres on 3m centres.
Then followed a 3-row model for growers asking for narrower row spacings. And in addition, Serafin added a High-Lift Frame option for quick access to the row units for any in-paddock adjustments and for general maintenance.

15m Ultisow Single Disc seeders
Following the success of Serafin’s 12m Hi-Lift seeder range, the company expanded its product range to include 15m Ultisow models in a Hi-Lift and Single Disc Seeder range with immediate sales to growers who appreciate having the space options and variation to set up for different product being planted.
Serafin 15m Ultisow Single Disc seeders are built in a high-quality frame that folds to under 6m for transport.
Growers can choose from 40, 50 or 60-row units, with manual hydraulic down pressure control and with disc spacings able to be set at 375mm, 300mm and 250mm respectively.
All 15m Ultisow Single Disc seeders are fitted with 500mm (20-inch) single disc units set at a 7-deg angle that allows these units to handle high trash loads and work well in wet soil conditions.
These models are also proven to work across rocky ground with 12 x 400/60 x 15.5 floatation tyres. And the advantage of 100-hour grease intervals and a non-greaseable press wheel fitted as standard.
Serafin Machinery has also developed its own Ultiforce Hydraulic down pressure system that is considered a competitively priced upgrade and gives operators much more flexibility from much improved ground following and is able to maintain complete working control in all conditions.

Ultisow Forward Fold seeder bars
The Aussie-designed and manufactured UltisowForward Fold seeder was developed by Serafin Machinery following customer requests for a narrow transport width model that could work out to 24m (80ft).
Following operator feedback since the successful release of the new forward fold design, Serafin has decided to add an 18m (60ft) model.
The sweet spots for growers considering these forward fold models are the narrow transport width, 2-rows of single disc units with spacing down to 250mm, and all built on a super heavy frame design to ensure perfect penetration.
Serafin forward fold models can fold down to a 4.8m width and a 4.2m height for transport between paddocks and this has become a key requirement for growers as wide working width models need trimming when it comes to moving them around.

Growers also asked for a model with greater ease of access for any regular maintenance, Serafin has obliged by adding a hydraulic lift, hydraulic fold and an adjustable hydraulic hitch to quickly access the row-unit modules.
Serafin Machinery has all but eliminated bending or crawling under the bar and makes it easy to assess any in-paddock disruptions.
The standard build of Ultisow Forward Fold seeders will also impress large-scale growers as the list includes six heavy-duty flotation tyres, and electric over hydraulic control of the row unit down pressure from within the cab.
Growers will also get the versatility of row spacings set from 250mm over two ranks or 375mm spacing on one rank. An advantage Serafin is quick to point out as a forward fold configuration usually operates on only one rank of units with only a wide row spacing of 300mm.

Its time to order now
Because Serafin Machinery is a solely 100% Australian-owned and operated company with only local farmers in mind, they can produce a quality product built to withstand the harsh and varied conditions we face and in addition are able to continually improve all their models based on farmers’ feedback.
Serafin Machinery has been taking orders for its range of Ultisow models since late 2022 and early into 2023, so the order book is already getting full.
This has prompted Jason Sibraa, one of the salesmen for Serafin Machinery to say, “The best time to talk to us about new seeders is now for the 2024 sowing season. We have a lot of exciting things coming up and we are always improving our product range as well.”
