NDE Co of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has been building TMR feed mixers for more than twenty years. NDE produces vertical mixers with one to three augers and capacities ranging from 9 to 48 cubic metres.
Eastern Spreaders in Kerang, VIC has been distributing the NDE mixers locally since 2000 and carries a full range as well as a large stock of spare parts.
At the core of all vertical NDE mixers is an aggressive auger design with 60cm (2ft) curved carbide knives to quickly and completely process hay bales and roughage.
The full flighted auger design, combined with a stepped floor ensures an even front to back and bottom to top mix, and easy and complete cleanout.
The stepped floor in NDE mixers places the rear auger floor 250mm (10-inches) higher than the front auger floor, so product moves in a figure 8 flow pattern, ensuring complete mixing of all material.

NDE produces a wide range of machines to cover operations big and small and two popular model line-ups are the economical, single auger S Series and the all-purpose FS Series with a 4-point scale system and single, double or triple auger set ups.
Capacities on the S Series run from 11.1 to 16.2 cubic metres across four models with power requirements running from 55.5kW to 74kW (75 to 100hp).
Each is PTO driven with the smaller S400L and S450L offering either a 540 or 1000rpm
connection, and the larger S500 and S600 requiring a 1000rpm connection. A 2-speed gearbox is optional
S Series models feature side discharge doors with 1m to 3m conveyor options, A-shaped frames for a tighter turning radius and the single vertical auger is fitted with 60cm curved carbide insert knives to make short work of large bales.
The S400L, S450L and S500L offer a lower loading height of around 2.5m, making loading with a skid steer possible.
The S600 features a slightly taller profile allowing handling of full-size bales and other feed ingredients easily. A 30cm (12in) heavy duty rubber extension can be added to increase capacity by about 2 cubic metres.
The robust triangular steel tubing frame design offers tighter turning radius as well as a 3-point frame mounted weigh bar system.
S Series mixers can also be equipped with a solid single axle or walking tandem and several tyre options are available to suit individual requirements.
To maximise accuracy, efficiency and productivity, a number of ration management systems are available as options.
FS Series capacities run from 13.3 cubic metres up to an extra-large 48.5 cubic metres over the 10 models in the range.
The FS models are all-purpose mixers offering front, side or rear discharge with a wide array of conveyor options and tyre and axle configurations.
Two popular models in the NDE line up are the FS1200D and FS1000D.
Both mixers are twin auger designs with the augers overlapping to guarantee a complete mix of all ration ingredients.
The FS1000D has a 28.4 cubic metre capacity and is set up as pictured above by Eastern Spreaders with a side elevator delivery.
On this model, feed is pushed out a 1.1m (3.6ft) side door to an elevator with available lengths of one to three metres.
Rubber wind guards can be fitted to these conveyers and they can be configured with self-levelling feed slides (steel, rubber or magnet.
Elevators can be set at any discharge height from 1m to 2.5m (3.3 to 8.2ft).
It is also possible to order an NDE vertical mixer with two side doors with a discharge
elevator on either the left- or right-hand side.
Both the lifting and driving of elevators is controlled from the tractor remotes.
The FS1000D has a 1000rpm PTO speed and has a minimum power requirement of 97kW (130hp).
The mixer is a tandem axle design and can be set up with a walking or sprung configuration. LT235/75R-17.5 tyres are fitted as standard, but flotation tyres are also available.
For producers that choose the NDE FS1200D, it boosts capacity to 33.4 cubic metres and is set up as pictured below by Eastern Spreaders with front delivery.
This front door has a large 1.4m (4.6ft) opening and can be configured with a flat two-way delivery or a 60cm or 91cm (2 to 3ft) folding dogleg conveyor.
The FS1200D has a 1000rpm PTO speed and has a minimum power requirement of 112kW (150hp).
All FS machines are fitted with Weightronix weighing systems with bold type monitors as standard.
A number of optional features are available for these mixers, including fully programmable scale monitors and either a two-speed gearbox for the FS1000D or a Zuidberg powershift gearbox for the FS1200D.
