Whites Rural has always been a proud Australian brand and has remained 100% Australian owned and operated since it started out over 70 years ago

Whites Rural is now established as the main fencing product supplier for local farmers and it’s all made in Australia

The company became very important to farmers in 1977 when Whites opened up a fencing division and began supplying droppers, wire  and end assemblies.

During that time Whites Rural has seen the trend move from all timber strainer posts to many farmers and contractors beginning the change to steel posts.

Steel posts and assemblies became more popular in recent decades because of their strength, ease of installation and the sometimes only intermittent supply of good timber posts.

The latest steel end assemblies supplied by White’s are offered in round or square profiles that can be driven into the ground with a mechanical driver making erection easier. A pipe stay is used for bracing into a footplate eliminating the need to dig-in a stay block.

Original Whites Rural customers used to cutting out mortices for the stay post assembly in timber strainers would have been thrilled to get their hands on steel replacements back at the start.

Whites have introduced many innovative ideas into fencing, including the Whites Rural’s Ute pack, an Australian idea, designed locally for faster fencing.

Traditional slings are commonly sold in lots of 400 with wire ties around every bundle of 10 posts. Stockpost Ute Pack features the same Stockpost fence post but in a lots of 200 in a clamp-down pack.

This means that the sling of posts can be transported to site on a ute (200 post weigh less than a tonne); and, once on site, the clamp-down bolts are loosened and the posts remove quickly and more easily.

Now with over 40 years of history and experience, Whites has strengthened its long-standing commitment to the local rural fencing market with its purpose built manufacturing operation in Albury NSW.

“We’re proud to be an Australian family-owned business with our roots firmly in steel fencing products”, said Matthew Stinson, national sales manager at Whites Rural.

“There’s strong sentiment at present around locally manufactured goods, and our Albury manufacturing plant provides us the opportunity to produce locally, keeping jobs and future investment securely in Australia”.

The 6,000 square metre site started in gate manufacturing before moving into fence wire products. With over 60 years’ experience, this factory has been a significant player in the Australian fencing market and the Albury district of New South Wales.

Whites’ market experience coupled with the manufacturing expertise it has acquired together provide an extraordinary platform for Australian manufacturing in the region.

“We are investing heavily in Albury. As a rural-based operation it is a unique regional manufacturing opportunity that keeps us close to the market and supportive of the local community”, added Mr Stinson.

The Whites Rural Australian-made range includes Stiff Stay and Hinged Joint prefrabricated wire fencing, Iowa and High Tensile barbed wire, the range of Frauenfelder brand gates and sheepyard mesh to name a few.
