Bourgault 4420 Deep Knife Drill in demand for next season orders

Leading seeding equipment manufacturer Bourgault Australia is taking orders for what growers need for the next big plant

The 4420 DKD™ is the first Bourgault model to carry the next-generation frame along with an all-new opener and within the design is an independent fertiliser knife that’s optimised for depths of 120 to 165mm

Following the second-highest farmgate income predicted for season 2024-25, with $88 billion expected to fill bank balances, many growers are now placing orders for Bourgault’s 4420 Deep Knife Drill.

And there is a valid reason the 4420 Deep Knife Drill will be at the top of the order books. See the model launch story here.

This model was purpose-designed and developed in partnership with local growers who have been demanding a more robust and reliable seeder, one that stands- up to all paddock challenges.

That request has been met with the 4420 Deep Knife Drill available in either 12m or 18m (39.3 and 59ft) widths, in 3 and 5-plex sections, with both models able to fold down to a 5.5m transport width. Giving utmost convenience when moving between paddocks.

With Hi-Flotation™ tyres incorporated into the design as standard, it minimises soil compaction when working across row spacings of 250mm or 300mm.

Bourgault’s 4420 DKD™ gets the added benefit of large hi-flotation tyres with a steerable front axle while the floating hitch ensures optimal depth control and superior tracking for minimised soil compaction

Behind the successful seed placement of the 4420 Deep Knife Drill is the Dual-tine DK™ (Deep Knife) Opener, offering advanced cutting-edge engineering designed to penetrate the soil to greater depths.

The DKTM Openers facilitate improved fertiliser separation and precise seed placement, resulting in an optimal environment for seed germination and growth.

Growers also get the benefit of enhanced control with on-the-go adjustable hydraulic breakout, offering a force range of 68g to 450kg. Ideal in varying soil conditions, resulting in consistent seed depth placement and uniform crop emergence.

Operators that add the TTC™ coulters option will find it works to optimise soil throw and residue management in high-stubble retention paddocks. The equipment is Streamliner™ compatible, and growers can opt to add a 4,800-litre onboard liquid tank.

Bourgault combined with local growers to design and build a deep knife drill and ended up with the Bourgault 4420 DKD™ in working widths of 12 and 18m (39.3 and 16.4ft) with a robust frame and on-the-go adjustable hydraulic breakout from 68 to 450kg

Every possible angle has been covered in the design of Bourgault’s 4420 Deep Knife Drill. Operators will quickly warm to the simple depth adjustment system, utilising shims on the main frame cylinders, to swiftly fine-tune seeding depths as requirements.

Proudly celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, Bourgault continues its mission to design and manufacture the highest quality, most durable and reliable farm equipment while also remaining affordable.

The Bourgault 4420 DKD™ is a testament to this commitment, as it enables local growers to achieve optimal seeding application and growth with a solution that is purpose-built for the job.
